Paradise Beverages has celebrated turning sixty by releasing a limited edition commemorative beer to mark the occasion.

As one of the Pacific region’s leading beverages companies, Paradise Beverages was established in August 1957 when it proudly brewed the first keg of Fiji Bitter, now one of the nation’s favourite brews.

The commemorative Fiji Bitter brew has an ABV of 6% and is presented in a special limited edition 440ml memorabilia can, available now across the country.

Some 300 of the company’s employees and 100 customers raised a toast at a special anniversary party held last week to acknowledge the company’s heritage and thank the many people who have contributed to its success to date.

Said Paradise Beverages General Manager Mike Spencer, “From our humble beginnings with production of just one beer, we can now proudly claim to be the power behind Fiji - and Samoa’s - most loved beverage portfolio, with over 16 brands of beers, spirits and RTDs produced in our breweries and distillery.

“In brewing our commemorative Fiji Bitter, we’ve tried to pay tribute to the brewery’s roots but also acknowledge our continuing passion for innovation in the world of high-quality brewing – and now distilling.

“Our business was established in August 1957, 60 years ago. The first keg of Fiji Bitter beer was produced in the very location that is still our Suva Brewery. Our business has changed significantly over the years, we’ve have had a number of company names and changed ownership several times, the latest being in 2012 when we were acquired by Amatil.

“With our rich history and unrivalled brand portfolio, and our greatest asset, over 300 fantastic people, it is only fitting that we take the time to celebrate our journey, the progress we have made and the success we have achieved.”

Said Head of Sales & Corporate Affairs for Paradise Beverages, Joe Rodan, “I’ve seen the tremendous amount of progress Fiji Bitter has made during my 29 years with the company. Fiji Bitter continues to be the iconic beer that everyone knows it to be and with the release of the new 6% can, it can only get bigger and better.”

The iconic Fiji Bitter brand has been exported to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Korea, PNG, Vanuatu and the Cook Islands.
